The first bird of Saturday morning was a Grasshopper Warbler which Dave caught, 2 others were reeling nearby.
Conditions were perfect for netting for only a couple of hours from first light, the wind then picked up from the NW and combined with strong sunlight made most of the rides unworkable, but Dave did manage to catch a female Green Woodpecker.
Sam Bayley and myself did some coppicing around the Kingfisher and Birch rides, flushing Snipe from the area for the 2nd week running.
Sightings included 30 Linnet, 6 Blackcap, 30+ Swallow, Sedge Warbler, 6 Reed Warbler,
2 Whitethroat and single Oystercatcher, Lapwing, and Siskin.
Butterflies included Peacock, Speckled Wood and Orange Tip.
My ringing totals were -
CHIFFCHAFF-1 (1)
WILLOW WARBLER-(2)
WREN -1 (1)
BLACKBIRD -(1)
DUNNOCK - (3)
LINNET -2
BULLFINCH -(2)
