Saturday 24th January 2009 - 1st Brambling for a few years...

With the forecast predicting strong winds for Saturday morning myself and Dave were pleasantly surprised to find no wind and finches starting to come back to the feeding station in decent numbers.

There were decent numbers of Chaffinch about and the surprise on the last net round was this fine male Brambling (euring age 5) the first to be ringed on No1 for a good few years, although the Team on No3 have been catching them throughout the Winter period.

Keiran and Steve Menzie spent the afternoon at a traditional site for Waxwing in Warrington - catching 5 birds out of 13 birds present, I have posted a picture from when we last caught at this site.
Back in my garden I caught a female Great Tit ringed as a 1j in June 2004, it was re-caught in August 2006 and not seen again till today.

#The above out of focus sunset was at the request of Kenny Mac, in fact if you have any sunset pics send them to Kenny...he is an avid fan of them....
